From our community, who know us best.

“Our friends and partners at PostFire are more than just a platform; they are a lifeline for wildfire survivors in Los Angeles County. iO, Patty, Lex, and the rest of the team are exceptional individuals whose dedication, compassion, and expertise shine through in everything they do. They approach each survivor’s situation with care, ensuring people feel heard, supported, and empowered with the right information to make the best decisions possible. Beyond providing accurate and timely guidance, they are deeply engaged in the community, regularly hosting webinars, providing progress maps, coordinating with local nonprofits, and working directly with survivors to navigate complex recovery challenges. I have witnessed firsthand the tangible impact of their work, including families receiving grants, housing assistance, legal support, and debris removal services.
I feel confident directing individuals to PostFire because I trust both the information and the process they undertake to provide it, which is crucial in a world filled with misinformation. Supporting PostFire means investing in a team that not only informs but actively rebuilds communities with integrity, care, and measurable impact."

Andrew Avina, Disaster Operations Coach/Coordinator - Operation Hope Inc

“There are times we feel forgotten, and then someone reaches out and lends a helping hand. Thank you for consistently being that person”

— Kim, Eaton Fire Survivor

“Community partnership is at the heart of CAP.LA’s mission, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with PostFire to ensure LA’s fire recovery efforts empower survivors with clear, actionable information. Together, we’re working to make sure recovery is not just about rebuilding—but about rebuilding with science, access, and resilience at the center.”

- Sarah Ali, COO, Kayne Foundation, CAP.LA

“After a disaster you cannot understate the importance of clear, timely and accurate information. PostFire provides vetted information for survivors that is immeasurable in impact. We wish we had PostFire during our fires.”

- Jeff Okrepkie, Santa Rosa City Council, Tubbs Fire Survivor, Creator of the Block Captain system, After The Fire USA Delegate

“Over the past 20 years in disaster management, I’ve rebuilt thousands of homes, managed billions in grants, and guided dozens of communities through their recovery. In that time, I’ve seen how often survivor needs go unmet because recovery resources are complex, fragmented, or short-lived. PostFire helps fill that gap. Their work is innovative and survivor-centered, demystifying the recovery process so families can navigate it with confidence. Just as importantly, they have the right team in place and a long-term commitment to communities, ensuring their impact will last after the headlines have faded. That makes PostFire an essential partner in the LA Fire recovery and beyond.”

- Christopher Mewes, Senior Director, Tidal Basin, Senior Disaster Recovery Program Professional: HUD CDBG-DR, FEMA Individual Assistance, and FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity

“PostFire is currently our go-to resource for vetted information about fire recovery.  Once their survivor portal is launched, we will be using it to help fire survivors navigate their options through an unbiased platform we know we can trust.”

- Tim Vordtriede, Total Loss Survivor, Altadena Collective, Brass Tacks & Collective O/R

“I check Postfire whenever I have a question. I look up things like, who pays for the 2nd phase of debris removal? How to choose a lawyer? Should I hire an architect or design-build firm? And I learn something new every time I visit the site: debris removal, contractor needs to have a license, ask the lawyer for proof of settlement, hire a project manager to have fewer change orders. We’ve never been through this before and every fire recovery is different so having resources created by people who are going through it WITH us, but steps AHEAD of us, is invaluable!”

Kirsten Schaffer, CEO, WIF, Total Loss Eaton Survivor

PostFire is committed to delivering valuable, reliable, and tailored guidance, which defines its pivotal role in successful disaster recovery - often surpassing the impact of financial aid. Their work increases property insurability, and resiliency of the rebuilt community-wide environment. PostFire draws upon insights from renowned experts, simplifying complex information and making it accessible to all. This comprehensive approach empowers individuals to recover and rebuild their lives effectively. In my experience, PostFire is significantly and positively impacting the community-wide recovery in LA.”

 J. Lopez, Executive Director, California Wildfire Mitigation Program Authority

“Everything I’ve heard and seen from Postfire LA reflects a deep commitment to making recovery more streamlined, transparent, and trustworthy for fire survivors. Their rebuild calculator alone is an innovative and compassionate step toward empowering residents with the insight needed to rebuild wisely and sustainably. They’ve approached this work with humility and fierce advocacy—quietly building in response to what they and their neighbors have personally endured. We need technology and community working hand-in-hand to rebuild lives, and that’s exactly what Postfire LA is doing—I wholeheartedly champion investment to help them continue.”

Pastor Amara Ononiwu, Director of Eaton Fire Relief & Long Term Recovery, CCC

“PostFire has been one of the only resources that felt accessible to me as an immigrant, Latina woman. Everything that they share is easy to understand and feels like it is being delivered by a friend who knows exactly what I am going through.

I know that I can trust their newsletter, guides, Instagram, and have learned so much about rebuilding my home from the webinars they have hosted. Their website being available in Spanish also makes it so that I can share information with my neighbors and family members! I am so thankful for the team at PostFire for all of the work they continue to do.”

Letty P, Eaton Survivor

“On behalf of PACTL.ORG and our families, we have deep gratitude for all the countless unconditional support that we have received from PostFire. They have helped us provide temporary housing, badly-needed food security, and purchase culturally relevant meals and other pantry foods. They have also guided families who lost their homes through the maze of government agencies, helping them access the practical resources they need. In addition, PostFire is providing emotional support to our referred families with complete acceptance and upholding them with great regard.  I appreciate any support Postfire might receive as it is well deserved.

With gratitude,

Yoland Trevino, Executive Director, PACTL

“PostFire has been an invaluable source of clear, fact-based information for their followers from day one following the Eaton Fire. Their strong social media presence has made them a go-to resource for the community, and what they’re building for a broader audience has the potential to become an essential guide for anyone navigating life after a major disaster.”

Shawna Dawson, Total Loss Survivor, Community Organizer, Beautiful Altadena

"Thank you for your time, help and care. Our days continue to be taxing, and your care and efforts mean a great deal to our continued journey through the most painful time in our lives."

Palisades Survivor

“Postfire is one of a select handful of organizations I turn to over and over again as a neighborhood block captain. Their rebuilding guides, grant resources page, and calculators are invaluable.  I'm always confident I can rely on them and pass their info on to other neighbors in need - especially since they are very stringent about vetting and only using high quality information.  In post-disaster recovery we need nimble, ethical organizations that make sure good information is getting out to as many people as possible, and I don't think we'd be nearly as strong in our recovery efforts without the support of Postfire.”

Morgan Z Whirledge, Total Loss Survivor, Alpine Villa Community, Neighborhood Block Captain

“PostFire has become a central hub of simple, actionable information to assist survivors in making the complex decisions required to heal, recover, and rebuild. They connect survivors with experts and resources under an ethos of true care.”

Dr. Dori Tunstall, Dena Just Futures

“Your acts of kindness bring tears to my eyes. I look forward to meeting you one day. You make a difference.”

- Japhena, Smoke Damage, Eaton, Altadena Town Council

“PostFire’s work has been very helpful to the Altadena community since the Eaton Fire. It’s rare and important to have an effort like theirs; one that’s led by kind and capable impacted survivors, who proved themselves long before the fire. Their leaders were already advocates for equitable community improvement, fact-checked information, streamlined valuable resources, and partnerships vetted for good, ethical practices. They’ve added a level of presence, inclusion, and practicality that is built on key local community relationships. Their services are designed to be accessible and digestible for all. And not to mention, they possess a unique mastery of the power and reach available via social media, which, in addition to on-the-ground and email access, is how impacted communities are receiving support, critical information, and resources.”

Taylor Campbell, Co-Founder, Altadena Rising

“PostFire’s commitment to fire survivors is evident in everything they do. Their guides are not only empathetic and compassionate but always grounded in science, shaped by experts and practical. I never hesitate to point someone their way, knowing they’ll be met with clarity and care. It’s been an honor to contribute to the home hardening section of their platform, and to work alongside them in this response!”

Calley Bilgram, Program Lead, GER3

“Habitat is one piece of the recovery work being done in LA. We’re grateful to have a partner in PostFire for reliable information, resources, and guidance for our families to rely on.”

Laura Ealy, San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity

“Thank you so much for today and all that you are continuing to do to help us. I am super psyched on having learned all of this as I am designing our home in the Palisades now and will be sure to share this recording with everyone that I can possibly think of”

Jill, Palisades Survivor

“Postfire has been a source of good information for survivors in LA. They touch on a multitude of issues that can be extremely challenging for most people, let alone the traumatized brain, to get answers about. They are definitely valuable in this space.”

Annie Barbour, United Policyholders, Tubbs Fire Survivor

“In the meantime, thank YOU for ALL that you are doing with "PostFire" to help the 10's of 1,000's people affected by the Eaton and Palisades Fires.

Have I said thank you lately?”

Margot, Palisades Survivor

The first word that comes to mind when I think of PostFire is “data.”  PostFire cares deeply enough about our community to lead with relevant data from experts in their fields.  Recovery is endless information, and it is hard to sort through.  The knowledge that PostFire checks everything multiple times is incredibly reassuring.

Megan Hinchliffe Gerig, Altadena Co-Lab

"First, thanks for all the information you continue to gather and share. It’s invaluable! Especially all these months later. As I am beginning to clean up my home that was spared by the fire, it’s so helpful to have all of this data and discussion. Again, send my thanks to your whole team. All the best to each of you."

Eaton Survivor

“iO and Patty at PostFire have been incredible advocates and a great resource for LA Fire survivors. They sent dozens of survivors to us for housing assistance and have been very supportive of Civic Soul endeavors. They have been collecting important data that is useful for nonprofits to understand how to better help survivors and so much more.”

Caitlin Stamos, Executive Director, Civic Soul

“PostFire is doing critical work needed for their community and they have been instrumental in clear communications and in getting things done to help their community in the short and long term for the LA Fires response. It’s a pleasure to work together.”

Dr. Kari Nadeau, Harvard University/LA Fire Health Study

“PostFire has been the most important resource my husband and I have had through the Eaton Canyon Fire. Starting with iO posting on instagram, through the town halls and newsletter and now with the launch of the portal, PostFire has built an online community and guide that has helped us through the scariest and saddest time of our adult lives and allowed us to have tools to help our neighbors. Something that is very special has been the tone of PostFire. The overall platform is very friendly and digestible.. It allows for community members to learn about very overwhelming subjects through warm and inviting design and language. Ultimately, it’s one of few resources aggregating the information the post-fire community needs and simplifying it into action items. This has been so helpful when we have felt so unsure of how to move forward.”

Clara G, Eaton Survivor

“After a megafire like the ones that devastated Pacific Palisades and Altadena, families, individuals, institutions, and public services awake in the shock of loss and overwhelm. Experience shows us that the among most effective and meaningful organizations in getting community back on its feet are, counterintuitively, not necessarily those that have been around the longest — but those that emerge in the aftermath, with survivor-leaders who are themselves native to the disaster. PostFireLA is the standard bearer for such an organization in Los Angeles. Not only did it snap into action after the fire, providing prolific expertise and guidance to survivors on issues ranging from air and soil quality to rebuild permits to navigating arcane and Byzantine  insurance rules — but it has been a constant voice of stability and advocacy ever since. On nearly a daily basis, it has translated complex issues in policy, science, architecture, design, insurance, and finance into something digestible and actionable for community, through effective and beautiful graphic design, communications, and a deep practice of community organizing. Building such an organization is a nonstop labor that requires significant resources: policy expertise, research, and advocacy; technical and at times scientific understanding of the local environment, land use, rebuild and architectural and design interventions; and, most importantly, a deep community connection and familiarity. PostFireLA weaves these skills and capacities together with grace, ferocity, humor when appropriate, and unwavering commitment.”

Jake Levine, affected resident, Candidate for United States Congress, formerly Department of Angels

The EFC is proud to partner with PostFire, who has been with us from the very beginning of our formation, providing not only technical and subject matter expertise but also leadership in developing our organization to ensure it is representative, accountable, and attentive to the needs of survivors. Their guidance has strengthened coordination across agencies, ensured resources are deployed effectively, and advanced a recovery process that is both equitable and sustainable. PostFire has been instrumental in turning community priorities into concrete, actionable outcomes, and their partnership remains a cornerstone of our collective recovery efforts. Their innovative platform reimagines service delivery, establishing new standards for how recovery is coordinated and how survivors are engaged. Their investment has made a lasting, meaningful impact on our community.

Michael Ocon, Leadership Council Secretary, Eaton Fire Collaborative

“Postfire is an excellent resource for survivors navigating the long road to recovery after a wildfire. The site offers clear, centralized information on rebuilding, permits, financial assistance, insurance, and safety considerations, helping survivors cut through the confusion and make informed decisions. It is an invaluable tool for Disaster Case Managers working with survivors to rebuild and recover.”

Matt Gsell, Emergency Manager, LA Wildfire DCMP Lead CORE

“As an Altadena survivor, I deeply appreciate PostFire for being one of the first to share clear, timely information in the early days of the fire—helping fellow survivors like me navigate overwhelming details on tax assessments, insurance, and FEMA. Since then, they’ve become an invaluable community resource, creating user-friendly tools to support recovery while also amplifying critical issues.”

Andrew K. Total Loss Survivor, Department of Angels
