Design is an exploration. The more phases of design you go through, and the more communication and back and forth there is, the more your design will change as you learn.
That process can lead to the creation of something you never imagined. Keep in mind that design is iterative - your architect or build partner will likely show you options and then continue to revise them as they get your input.
